Synopsis

Take Away is a hand-drawn animated film inspired by the behaviour of the bowerbird, known for collecting objects to build and decorate its nest. Through loose, expressive sketches, the film follows a bird gathering materials from its surroundings, slowly revealing that many of these objects are items humans casually throw away. As plastic forks and other single use waste become part of the nest, the animation quietly shifts into a reflection on pollution and responsibility. Without dialogue or instruction, the film allows images, movement, and sound to tell the story, encouraging viewers to notice the impact of everyday habits on the natural world. Created through an organic, intuitive process during lockdown, Take Away blends drawing, texture, and sound into a gentle but pointed meditation on consumption, carelessness, and the lasting presence of plastic in our environment.
