Synopsis
Set in Iraq, Speaker follows a disabled grocer as he goes about his daily routine, travelling through the desert with his bike and trailer. His quiet, ordinary day is shattered when he witnesses a group of men dragging a woman into the sands, preparing to stone her to death. Unable to fight them physically, the grocer uses the only tool he has, a megaphone. By imitating the sound of gunfire, he creates enough fear and confusion to stop the execution. Seizing the moment, he rides toward the woman, pulls her into his trailer, and escapes across the desert. Speaker is a tense, human story about courage, ingenuity, and moral choice. Through one man’s decisive act, the film highlights how resistance does not always come from strength or power, but from compassion and the will to act when it matters most.
