Synopsis

Kalaviuka unfolds as a mythic vision set in the ancient landscape of Dunhuang, where a bird goddess awakens amid the remnants of a world long since extinguished. Surrounded by silence and ruin, she moves through a desolate wilderness that still carries echoes of life, faint sounds that suggest memory, loss, and persistence. Drawn forward by these traces, she crosses a lake formed from sorrow itself, a place where grief and reflection merge. Her journey leads her to a solitary door standing in the emptiness, a threshold that hints at forgotten power and unresolved history. Through this encounter, the film evokes a world shaped by extinction and endurance, where gods linger in altered forms and meaning is found in fragments rather than certainty. Meditative and symbolic, Kalaviuka explores rebirth, remembrance, and the quiet tension between what has been lost and what may yet remain.
