Beholden

Synopsis

Beholden centres on Lee, a man in prison accused of murder, whose only chance of freedom rests with Carlie, his childhood sweetheart. Now a lawyer, Carlie has built a life far removed from where she came from, leaving behind a past shaped by hardship and trauma. Lee’s case forces her to consider whether she is willing to reopen old wounds in order to help the person she once loved. As the two reconnect, their shared history begins to resurface, bringing with it unresolved feelings, difficult memories, and the weight of choices made long ago. The film explores the pull of the past and the emotional cost of loyalty, asking how much we owe the people we once were, and whether moving on ever truly means leaving everything behind.
