Synopsis
Gan Canny is a darkly comic, working class family story rooted in North Eastern culture, where grief, grudges, and gallows humour collide. Siblings Tyler and Paige return home following the death of their Nana, only to find themselves at odds with their estranged mam over how she has chosen to say goodbye. As emotions simmer and patience wears thin, the siblings decide that Nana deserves something better, or at least something more fitting. What follows is a reckless and deeply ill judged attempt to take control of the situation, turning mourning into mayhem and grief into chaos. As the journey unfolds, long standing resentments bubble to the surface alongside moments of unexpected tenderness, forcing Tyler and Paige to confront not only their loss, but each other. Irreverent, heartfelt, and proudly disrespectful, Gan Canny finds humour in the messiness of family and asks whether laughter might be the only way through when saying goodbye feels impossible.
